Byggvarubedömningen and eBVD continue to advance their collaboration on shared information flows. We interviewed Moa Åberg, Business Development at Byggvarubedömningen, to learn more about the progress so far and the next steps in the initiative.

What is the goal of the collaboration between eBVD and Byggvarubedömningen?

The primary goal is to simplify and streamline the management of product information, thereby reducing the amount of manual work required from both applicants and assessors. By enabling Byggvarubedömningen to import information directly from eBVDs, suppliers will no longer need to submit the same information multiple times across different systems.

The initial focus is on general product information, with the ambition to later include substance and content data as well. This would allow information from eBVDs to be used as part of Byggvarubedömningen’s assessment process while also contributing to higher-quality and more consistent product data.

How is the work progressing?

We have identified how information from eBVDs can be used within Byggvarubedömningen. The current focus is on defining the information flow in greater detail and determining which parts of the process can be automated.

This is a development effort that requires us to ensure that the information can be interpreted, quality assured, and applied correctly within Byggvarubedömningen’s processes.

What impact do you think the collaboration will have on the construction industry?

Above all, I believe it can help reduce duplicate work and improve access to product information.

In the longer term, the collaboration could also contribute to a more standardized and structured approach to product data management across the construction sector. This will become increasingly important as requirements for traceability, documentation, and sustainability information continue to grow.
