External parties

Meet the requirements of external certifications and requirement setters through the content provided in eBVD. Read about the research projects in which the eBVD system participates.

Certifications

Here you can find information on how data in eBVDs can be used for certifications such as Miljöbyggnad and BREEAM-SE.

Wondering how everything fits together?

Learn how eBVD works in conjunction with other assessment and declaration systems such as SundaHus, Byggvarubedömningen, and EPD International.

eBVD i Norden

An eBVD is an electronic building product declaration that compiles digital environmental information about a construction product or material. The content required in an eBVD is governed by an industry standard.

The eBVD system is a self-declaration system in which companies can register, update, and digitally share their eBVDs. Through the eBVD system, all published eBVDs are openly accessible and searchable for anyone interested.

BASTA

The BASTA system helps you make informed product choices through scientifically based criteria for phasing out hazardous substances. BASTA provides open sustainability data on all published articles in the system, which can be accessed via the system’s search function or through its API.

On product pages in BASTA, the associated eBVD is displayed in full (if available), including the declared chemical content.

Byggmaterialindustrierna

Byggmaterialindustrierna is an umbrella organization that welcomes all companies and industry associations involved in the manufacturing and use of construction materials. Its primary role is to coordinate, strengthen, and advocate for issues that are common to the entire building materials industry.

eBVD i Norden is a subsidiary of IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute and Byggmaterialindustrierna.

EPD International

Although eBVD and EPD may sound similar, the content of these declarations differs significantly.

EPD International is a sister company of eBVD i Norden and serves as a program operator for Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs). An EPD is a document that provides third-party verified information about a product’s environmental impact. In Section 5, Environmental Impact, of your eBVD, you can specify the registration number of your EPD.

Byggvarubedömningen

Byggvarubedömningen evaluates, provides information on, and assesses building products with the vision of promoting a non-toxic and sustainable environment for current and future generations. In Byggvarubedömningen’s Logbook tool, project members can manage and register the products selected for a project.

The documentation required to carry out a product assessment can be Byggvarubedömningen’s own declaration template or an equivalent document, such as an eBVD.

IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute

IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute is an independent research institute specializing in environmental and sustainability issues. IVL conducts applied research and consultancy assignments that contribute to achieving both the global Sustainable Development Goals and Sweden’s national environmental objectives.

eBVD i Norden is a subsidiary of IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute and Byggmaterialindustrierna.

SundaHus

SundaHus provides a web-based system and advisory services for structuring and documenting product information in construction and property management projects. SundaHus also offers product assessments.

The documentation required to carry out a product assessment can be SundaHus’s own declaration template or equivalent relevant documentation, such as an eBVD.

Sweden Green Building Council

Sweden Green Building Council (SGBC) is an industry and membership organization that, among other things, provides certifications and training. eBVD helps fulfill indicators and achieve credits primarily within the BREEAM and Miljöbyggnad certification systems.

In Miljöbyggnad’s Indicator 15, “Logbook of building products,” compliance is assessed based on whether installed building products are documented and their contents declared. For applicable products, this requirement can be met by providing an eBVD.
